Studies show that drivers feel less safe on the highway

Studies have shown that a growing number of drivers are concerned about accidents that involve distracted driving. Many people in Washington and beyond feel that driving is becoming less safe. Most people believe that they themselves are safe drivers but don’t trust other people on the road, particularly commercial drivers. Distracted driving is, in fact, the cause of a growing number of accidents and fatalities on the road.

A study by an artificial intelligence firm revealed some interesting facts

A study by Netradyne revealed that drinking beverages is the most common highway distraction with social media interaction ranking as the most severe. A fifth of the respondents reported having motor vehicle accidents or facing fines due to distracted driving. Everyone in the survey was at least 18 and drove at least once a week.

Nearly 30% of the people who were surveyed showed interest in artificial technology for vehicles. Overall, the vast majority of people who were surveyed showed concern about highway safety and felt that distracted driving was on the rise. Nearly 20% of the people in the study said outright that commercial drivers are unsafe. About half of the respondents admitted that they could take steps themselves to be safer drivers.

What an individual should do if they’re injured in an accident

Victims of motor vehicle accidents due to distracted driving might wish to speak with an attorney. An attorney may help the client file a claim with their insurance company, determine the maximum settlement that they could be entitled to and review their rights in regard to pursuing legal action. An attorney may also be able to help their client collect evidence and file a court case against the other party, which might lead to their client receiving maximum possible compensation.
