A car accident can happen on any road and at any time in Washington and around the country. However, a study by Go Safe Labs found that some parts of the U.S. are more likely to have one than others.
Houston and Charlotte Top the List
According to the study, there were 22,188 accidents in Houston during 2019, and there were 21,818 accidents in Charlotte during that same year. Other large cities such as Los Angeles and Dallas also made the list. However, it is important to note that the accident rate actually fell by 13.3% in Charlotte and 12.1% in Houston during the study period.
Be Careful Near the Pelham Road Exit on Interstate 85
With 404 accidents, this area was the location where a car accident was most likely to occur. Two other portions of I-85 were named as locations where accidents were prone to take place, and all three of these spots were located in Greenville, South Carolina. An intersection in another part of that state was also cited as a dangerous road to drive on. Researchers also found that roads in large cities such as New York and Miami should also be traversed with care.
Drivers Can Learn from Data
Go Safe Labs said that it wanted drivers to learn from the information collected during the past year. Ideally, you will avoid dangerous roads or intersections. At a minimum, it can be a good idea to decrease your speed or increase your following distance while on a road with a questionable safety track record.
People who are injured in car accidents may require lengthy periods of medical treatment, and in many cases they are unable to work while they are recovering, further worsening their financial situation. If the crash was caused by the negligence of another motorist, victims might want to have the help of a lawyer when seeking compensation for their losses.
